I cant decide which might be causeing my problem, i have a gut feeling im over taxing my ps, a antec true 430 because of sytem instabilty, but my video card (gigabyte 9800 pro) does not have a spotless record eather.Kepp in mind that I just put this system together last week and this is my second build.
Problems that point to ps: Sytem restarts, locksup, and crashes, during general use, with average software like word, browsing, ect.
Problems that point to video: Cannot playback dvds with powerdvd 6.0 sver lockup on app start, games freeze up as soon as intro finishes loading and more than average graphics start to appear, during some boots montior will show it is reciving sig, but the screen will be blank, this error in catyist pooping up when I play games " Vpu recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands. I have already reseated and reinstalled the video and windows to double check this. Oh and sometimes the video just goes out while i am doing general use also, the pc is still on and funtioning, but the video dies.
system specs:
I dont overclock so this are running on factory settings
amd 64 3700+ 939
asus a8v k8t8000 pro delux mb
truepower 430 ps
2x 512 corsair twinx 400 rd ram (have already tried 1 stick nondualed, right now they are dualed)
3 lighted fans
9800 pro Gigabyte (lateest ati drivers)
2 non lighted fans (includeds stock amd fan)
1 80gb hd 7200 rpm hd
2x 120gb hd 7200 rpm hds
1 x 300gb hd 7200 rpm
1 cdrom
1 cdrw
1 dvdrw
1 dvd player
1 usb card 4x ports
1x pci to ata connector card
1x floppy drive
1x winfast tv xp 2000 tv card
Right now it looks like both to me, any segestions on alternatives to replacing both are welcome, and any links to cheap but stable/powerful replacements are also elcome. Im a broke college student, but I dont mind going into deepper dept (to much) to help relieve some stress killing zombies.
Suggestions on quailty cheaper than antec ps's with simular stabilty are welcome.
