The quality of the video is very poor :(
Going to hope the demo will run on a 9800.

....that engine will be used though. Well, I assume so anyways. Maybe for an expansion or sequel. I cannot imagine them putting that tech to waste.

Firefox is fine for me.
It has an embedded wmv file, so you need a plugin to be able to play.

Hopefully Anand will pick up on this and look at using the benchmark part in videocard articles in future?
Seems like a nice way to look at 3Dc and whether 256MB RAM is worthwhile (it apparently has 200+MB of stuff per frame)
Also, it gets at most 30fps at 1024x768 with a 9800, so at 1600x1200 w/AA and AF, it should push the top cards to their limits :)
Also has the render stuff (can't remember the name) which is for objects which appear multiple times (eg: trees). Geometry instancing?
Nice tech demo, and it may give us an idea of how some techs may help/

That game doesnt look good, because it basically is Farcry all over again... Not even a sequel, but rather the same game with better graphics.

Looked cool though.

This isnt the game.. its an interactive video that uses the next gen cryengine that will be used to make the game.

And it's a TECH DEMO.
The demo is basically the beginning of FarCry. No, it's not a new game, it's a DEMO.
DEMO DEMO DEMO
With TECH which will be used to make a new game.
This, however, is a DEMO DEMO DEMO.

Jesus you hit 17 fps with a 9800!

I took off AA.
By default it's set to 4xAA at 1024x768 with no other options on.
I made it 1024x768 with no options, 0AA

Good pics Lonyo, but I can't get a good grasp on wall textures or model detail from them. Any new lighting effects in the video, also?

 Far Cry is a HL2 killer as far as I'm concerned, I bought and greatly enjoyed it, and couldn't care less about HL2. Lies, delays, and Steam... I'm too old for that siht.

It seems a very focused demo. If you pause and pan the camera around, then textures which you wouldn't see normally are very blurred.
As far as textures which appear on the screen in a normal run through, they are fairly detailed, IMO better than some of HL2's textures (especially the underfoot ones in HL2, they were quite poor in many areas).
Character models looked pretty good, although they still had rough edges and squared off heads a bit.
I forgot to get a shot of the bald character, he's a good indication that the models are quite good, but there is still a lot of room for improvements.
Overall, it looks promising, better textures than HL2, but to be honest, it didn't look like much of a step up to me in most areas.
Vegetation was excellent though, at the beginning. Compared to most games, it is a huge step forward.

Good to hear they plan to continue improving vegetation, it is a tough area for most games and the better they can do it, the more interesting games become.
