whats the best way to make your tv a secondary monitor via analog or dvi with an x800 xl

do you need a tv tuner?

what is a tv tuner a what does it do

and the tv has the 3 hook ups , the red white and yellow ones

You dont need a tuner. You would only need a tv tuner if you wanted to watch tv on your computer monitor.

Check your video card. Pretty much every X800xl model come with S-Video or composite cable adapter, or both, that will plug into the back of your video card and allow you to hook up a TV as a monitor.

Be advised, your desktop outputed to a standard, non-HD television will look like crap compared to a regular monitor.
