the past week i had this error twice while trying to run a game(dusk diver), after loading a combat area pc would crash with that, but after the first crash i was able to play with no issues, everything else seemed fine up until 3 hours ago, now everytime i try to load a game it will crash at the menu, browsing and videos works normally, i tried updating drivers and going back to old ones with no success, same with the latest, this the last dump, all the others give the same errors

Any other system issues leading up to this? Is it a game you normally play without issues? Has that game been updated recently? Do other games have any stability issues?

Try running a system stress test like prime95 for half an hour, see if the system holds up (power supply is a possibility though that card apparently doesn't have its own power connectors).

Reseating the card might help. Checking for dust in the card might be worthwhile (though the idle temp is good which flies in the face of that theory). I suspect you have a faulty graphics card.

i had 1 bsod the past month playing castlevania (it wasn't this issue tho) before that nothing like this, i had some other issues that seems ram related (even tho they passed all the tests, solved those by cleaning and reasiting the kits)

i tryed overwatch 2 (crash at menu), dusk diver (crash at menu, way before it did the past week), i'm pretty sure neither was updated recently, yesterday i played ow2 just fine, all the other games i played these months gave me no issues (aside that one castlevania crash)

gpu has the 6pin connector, it's this model

psu is a seasonic focus+ 550w

Give Prime95 a try and see if anything interesting happens. You could try using the clean install on the graphics drivers but that's a clutching-at-straws idea. If you fire up a media player (say VLC) and play a video does anything weird happen?

just tried a couple of videos with vlc, nothing strange, they work just fine, for the drivers i uninstalled them everytime with ddu in safemode, also reinstalled the new ones in safe after rebooting

edit: i tryed prime for about 10 minutes (never used, dunno if that's enough) and nothing happened, all tests passed

Try a prior NVIDIA driver release/version. e.g. 556.12 from June 2024. There is little chance the newest driver has been receiving any changes applicable to GF 10xx (Pascal) GPUs for a while now. Drivers should be very mature for those older parts. But if it solves the crashes, you know it probably isn't the hardware defect.

i had the one from august - bsod
i installed the latest one - bsod
i went back to the one you mentioned (as you can see in the dump) - bsod

always with ddu in safe mode, nothing changed

If you have another computer to try that card in, or another card to try in your computer, that would be a pretty ideal test.

Well I'm leaning toward a defective card. Are there support forums on the game developer website? Anyone else having this trouble on related gaming forums?

i don't think it's game related since neither got updated, i'm going to test some other games just in case

i asked my uncle and he can give me a gpu for testing, i'd rather not touch mine unless it's necessary since this summer, after cleaning the pc, i wasted 3 hours between ram and gpu not being seen by the mobo...

the only thing i've seen online that i couldn't try is from here https://www.makeuseof.com/easy-ways-fix-nvlddmkm-sys-error-in-windows-10/ step 6, the sys file part, there is no file in neither of those locations, the one i have is in a different folder where i can't, nor want, give permissions to the file, i might try a clean windows install just to rule that out...

a system driver would be accessed with system permissions (ie. higher than admin). It's not a permissions issue.

If you really want to hunt down where the driver file is (though there is little point in this because if it couldn't find the file then you would have a different problem altogether), you could go into the registry to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\<drivername>\ImagePath and it will tell you where it finds it.

IMO a clean Windows install is a waste of time. I would only do one if there are clear signs that the Windows installation has been messed up in a way beyond the basic diagnostics and my abilities to fix it, and IMO all you'll do is set yourself back a few hours and be back at square one with this problem.

IMO, this program: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/furmark/ is great for graphics card stress testing.
so...i was about to answer that i would have reinstalled windows because i can't currently do much else without another gpu for testing, but while i was writing my screen went black with the device disconnetion sound from windows, then it came back after a second...i guess it's pretty safe to assume the gpu is just dying at this point...

Definitely sounds like it.

i got a new card and it seems like that was the issue, not for the disconnection thing tho, since it happend even with the new card, might be a pci issue on the mobo for that...anyway...thx for the help

Is there anything in the Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System, about that?

i don't see anything unusual, few error but nothing critical, my mobo is as old as the gpu (7+), considering how everytime i had to reseat a component i had to do it multiple times because it wouldn't see them....well...i'll keep an eye on it
