I noticed this starting last night. The video smears or fades to the right side of my monitor. For example, if I start typing text on a plain white background, you can see a black bar that fades to the right of the text. Sometimes it stands out more than others. I tried rebooting, but that didn't do anything. Not sure if it's a video problem or a physical problem with the monitor. Here are my specs:

Athlon64 3000+
2x512 Kingmax PC3200
Geforce 6800GT
Hitachi CM812 21" Monitor (about 6 years old)

I just bought a NEW ViewSonic P95f+ and I'm seeing this same problem you describe. Oddly, it only occurs with text. There is no ghosting or shadow of this type on anything but text. Black *graphics* (of any kind) on white background look flawless.

No amount of adjustment for moire, convergence, black/white level, or anything else improves it, and it occurs at every resolution and refresh rate that I devised.

I called ViewSonic, and they told me they have not heard of such a problem (usually any distortion of this kind would be apparant with any image, not ONLY text), and explained to me that the monitor can not differentiate between text and graphics. (Yea I figured that!). I hooked the monitor up to another computer to rule out a problem with the cable/video card. The problem still occurs. So they informed me the monitor must be defective, in some way, and instructed me to return it for another one.

Unfortunately, since you're monitor is 6 years old, you don't have this option.

In all my years of using many different monitors, I've never seen this before. I wonder if anyone else can shed any light on it.
