Video res at boot

I got my system running SLI today ( I was previously running 1 card and didn't have this behavior) and have a strange problem now. When my system boots, immediately before going to the windows desktop, the video signal goes to some non-standard res and/or refresh rate that my monitor (Hyundai L90D+ DVI) doesn't support and sometimes I get a totally garbled screen that goes away if I turn my monitor off, then on again and other times I get to the windows desktop but the res is something different than my default setting. It seems like the resolution is somehow set to default to something other than what I have it set at. I'm at a loss as to how to fix this. I've searched through the registry for something I could change but didn't find anything that looked like a default resolution setting. Anybody seen anything like this before?

71.84's. It would previously boot just fine with one card (and with 2 for that matter in the very beginning) but since going SLI this time, I have not gone back to try it with just one of the cards.
