My Analog recorder is dead. I want to record, edit, and burn on a DVD to view on our TV. Can this be done? Do I need special equipment, and if yes what kind? Will a digital Camcorder help or not?

Yes it can be done, and yes you need special equipment, and yes a digital camcorder would help alot. Besides a DV camcorder I'd you'll need a firewire card (to get the video onto your computer) and a DVD burner. I'd suggest going HERE and HERE for some more info.
