Hello, i have video coming out of my PS2 with a Component Video Signal (Y Pb Pr). What would be the best PCI Interface video recorder, and Recording Software, that would record this signal at its full quality. I was told that quality wise, Component signals are over 1000px wide, so when i record this, i dont want any 640x480 videos, i would like them to be FULL SIZE of the signal thats actually coming in. So if you know of a recorder that can do this, please let me know. Thanks for any help in advance.

Sorry, but there are no consumer component capture cards. Professional equipment may be able to do it but there's simply no way to capture that much data over the PCI bus without a hardware encoder. You'll notice that even HDTV Tuner cards do not have component input, much less DVI/HDMI like the latests HDTVs.

BTW, component is analog. You may be sending a standard def 480i signal, anamorphic 480i/480p or a full-high-def 1080i wide-screen image. There is no fixed resolution.

hmm, so basically, whats the best way for me to capture my ps2 and get the highest possible quality. Is S-Video the highest quality i can record?, or is there someway to get higher quality video from my playstation 2?

I guess i do not have to worry too much about PS2, as PS3 will be coming out soon. That will output video in composite, s-video, component, and dual hdmi, which can be converted to DVI using a simple cable. Are there capture cards that allow recording of DVI or HDMI connections?
