i have a silly question adn wondered if anyone would be able to shed some light on the situation. i am playing online with my rig an athlon xp 1700 and radeon 64mb vivo with the res set at 1024x760 i think that is right...anyways most of the details are set to normal or good. the ping is low 100's or high 90's for most of my games.

the question i have is when i get into a fight with someone and unload a bunch of rounds my gun fire speed slows down and i usually get killed with minimal shots...and also when i get the sniper rifle going, and i am looking through the scope and there is alot of action going on (explosions) and such the screen gets pretty choppy.

i am wondering if it is set to high for the settings and if so what would i try to change to improve the game play.

i am also looking at getting a new G-force T14200 128mb

just curious if i should get a gainward or a different brand

thanks in advance

Might i be wrong in suggesting you try setting your rez to 800x600 and try out the game. Maybe lower the details to medium. I know there are many people who, although notice the difference, could care less if the texture quality is a little lower if the game runs fluidly enough. I say try lowering the resolution and give it a whirl, if you are satisified you can squeeze some more life out of the card.

the choppiness you notice in the scope is from poor frame rates. as deadcell mentioned, try lowering the resolution, and experiment with some of the separate "eye candy" to squeeze some performance from your card.

It can't be that. I have a 1.3 bird with an AIW Radeon which is slower than the radeon 64mb vivo and I'm running at max detail @ 1024 x 768

I never see any slowdowns even in heavy action or smoke or what not. My pings are in the 250 range.

How much memory do you have and do you have stuff happening in the background ?

Running a Radeon 8500 64MB full detail at 1280x960, only slowdowns are server related. I don't imagine even w/ a vivo at those lower settings it'd be that big a difference. Maybe check on the drivers or mobo drivers.

As far as the GeForce I vote for Leadtek, I think they're almost as good as Gainward but don't cost nearly as much.
