video problems

:( i am messing around with building a computer for my kids, i got a super 7 gigabyte motherboard, and soundblaster live value, and geforce 2 32 meg ddr video card, i put xp on the system, the problems i am having is lockups and, most of the time my computer will just reset and the moniter will go blank and my com. will still be on does anyone know what the heck is going on please email with some ideas, i am having major problems with this.:confused:[E=Text]steeltown32@insightbb.com thanks alot for all your help

How much RAM do you have in that computer? XP needs minimum of 64MB of memory, and recommends 128 MB.

i am running 256 meg of ram the processors is 500 k6-2 and the motherboard is a gigabyte ga-5ax,i really need all the help i can get thanks alot everyone

That`s based on the ALi Alladdin V chipset I believe,I would recommend clean install of XP,try it with minimal hardware first to get it stable,few bios tweaks like disable all video shadowing in bios,set AGP 2x ,disable system bios cacheable,also leave PCI slot one empty (nearest to AGP slot),see how stability goes.

You could try flashing the motherboard with the latest bios update and also installing the WinXP ALI AGP driver might be worth trying as well,you can get that from here I believe 1.83 is latest version.
