I just freshly installed a system with these components:
Asus cuv4x-e motherboard w/via chipset
ati rage fury pro 128 AGP w/32MB ram
latest via 4-1 drivers
p3-866
windows98SE
toshiba DVD
soundblaster 128PCI
after I install win98SE i installed the ATI rage drivers that came with the card. I set the color depth to 32bit at 640x480 and 60hz refresh rate. After I reboot and windows loads up, i get a bunch of artifacts on the screen. Icons appear randomly on the screen instead of where they're suppose to. Some letters are cut off from the menus and after about 2 minutes the whole system becomes unstable and freezes. Weird thing is that the mouse works fine. Anyone know whats up? At first i suspected it was the video card, i just installed the card on another system and its working perfectly right now for about 2 hours without a hitch. Anyone know any incompatiblites with the Asus cUV4x-e motherboard with via chipset and the ati rage fury pro 128 ? Anyone know what could be causing this problem?
