Help! Software mode looks like ass!!

I have a Creative TNT2 Ultra 32 meg AGP card, and am attempting to play CS. Worked fine in OpenGL PRIOR to the latest 1.1 patch. After applying the patch, the game will only run in software mode. Whenever I get in to a game with the OpenGL or D3D modes selected, the game locks 5-10 seconds in to it.

I have tried my original video driver CD, the drivers that automatically loaded by WinME, the latest drivers from Creative, and the nVidia Detonator 3 drivers. I get the same result with all of them.

Am I correct in deducting that it is a video card issue based on the fact that it runs fine on the "Software Mode" video setting?

Help me out!

This is something that you may not want to hear but..

Reinstall CS 1.1 using the FULL version. First delete your existing folder (backing up all your config.cfg, autoexec.cfg, whatever), then install the full version. I know that the full version is huge and the mirrors are still probably slow, but its the best way to make sure your CS is "right". I had problems with old betas and patching them (beta 3-4), so I made it a rule to always stick with full installs of all CS and I've been great ever since.

I agree with vash, the update from 1.0 to 1.1 didn't even work for me. I just DL'ed the full version and it worked a lot better. It seems that usually updating anything always sux, it is almost always better to do the full install instead of an update of an update of an update.
