Hi,

I recently upgraded to this Sapphire 4850 on my HP m8100y. Specs before upgrade were:

Q6600
4gb DDR2
GeForce 8400gs
Happauge TV Tuner
500W Seasonic PSU (I installed this for the radeon)

and it ran totally stable. I ran driver cleaner to uninstall the nvidia drivers, then installed the Cat 9.4 drivers along with ATI Tool. Now, any time I try to open a video file, or even access the Avivo Video tab in Catalyst Control Center, the entire system freezes. I can hear the hard drive being accessed, but neither mouse nor keyboard respond at all (also, all monitors I have running are frozen). I've searched through a number of different forums, and looked through threads here, but haven't found any solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thanks very much -

edit: more info
running @ stock speeds
CCC reports idle @ ~38 C
Waiting for steam to download CS so I can test at least performance.

Video playback does work in Winamp and VLC, but not WMP.. and the fact that I can't access AVIVO video options still is cause for concern.

--should this be in Computer Help? I just noticed that subforum

Try and look for any nVidia folder still remaining in Documents and Settings(your user name). Also, try reinstalling tv tuner software.

Thanks, will try that. As far as I know there was no separate TV tuner software included with the computer. I took out the tuner card as well; have no need for it currently. I read that using Driver Cleaner might have removed some necessary registry entries/files, so I'm redownloading that as well.

No remaining folders except what was left in the backup folders from Driversweeper (mistakenly referred to as DC earlier), and I didn't see any reference to the tuner card either. Still get a hard freeze opening movies within WMP and the Avivo tab in CCC but otherwise system seems stable.
