SO i ordered all new parts for my computer:

ASUS X1900XT
Intel Pentium D 950 3.4ghz Dual Core
ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe
Hard Drive
OCZ Gold Series 2GB DDR2 DDR2 667 Dual Channel
Athena 520W PSU

So, I've got all these parts installed with the most current drivers. I've come a long way at least from many blue screen lock ups and freezes to not being able to boot.

but now, my problem is that i'm getting random restarts and some crashes to desktop (especially in 3D applications). I ran artifact scanner and didn't get any artifacts after running it for 45 minutes or so. I took out one of the ram modules and stil lgot the lock ups. I've yet to take out the other. I have tried ATI Drivers, Asus drivers, and Omega drivers. Ati seem to be the most stable. I've also updated the nvidia nforce drivers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My first guess would be your power supply because although it's rated at 28 amps on the +12v rail, it only has a single +12v rail which could be getting over-taxed when X1900XT kicks up into 3d mode & starts sucking power like theres no tomorrow.... as long as your sure nothing is overheating thats the most likely culprit.

You might want to replace it with a similar wattage unit with at least dual +12v rails rated at a minimum of 18 amps each, somthing like this Mushkin 550 watt unit is pretty cheap @ $89 & should do the job with dual 20 amp +12's:

Better still, for a little more ($129) this OCZ 600 watt unit with 3x 18 amp +12's & active PFC:

it's pretty much only restarting now in 3d applications, very rarely otherwise.

Is there anythign else that could cause that other than the PSU?

Thanks for your help. I might go with that OCZ 600W if you all think the PSU is at fault. Is there any info I can give you that would make it easier for you to tell what the problem might be? It's definitely not heat, as everything is running at stable temperatures I think:
MB: about 40-55*C
CPU: 19-30*C (this seems really cool?)
GPU: 70*C
