I originally posted this under "Video", but maybe it
belongs under Tech Support. I apologize for the
double posting.

I am getting grey lines and dull display on my HP 8700.
I checked and changed display settings and installed
new drivers. I swapped monitors and that was not the
problem. I also checked to see if the card was loose and
that hasn't caused any improvement in the picture. Does
it appear to be that the card is going?

Also, just to confirm, the card is a medium length card
as opposed to short NICs or a long AGP card. It is plugged
into a brown plastic slot while the other slots like the sound
card are white. I am assuming this is an AGP card slot but
I need to get my specs to see what I can replace it with.

Any suggestions on a good, basic gaming card would be
appreciated. I was thinking GeForce4...

Thanks.

The brown slot is AGP. The white slots are PCI. Try another card and see if it fixes your problem. If you could borrow one from a friend first to test with before you spend the money for a new one it would be better.
