Video problem: Asus P4B533, Need Whiz!!

My system:
Intel 1.6A@155, 4:3 default voltage
Asus P4B533 Default voltage
Samsung 512ddr pc2700 set at Auto
Gainward Geforce 4 4200 64mb
Sounblaster Live! Value (4th slot)
Macronix 10/100 (6th slot, bottom)

Initially when i set up my computer i boosted up the FSB and set the fsb/ram to 4:3 but I forgot to set the agp/pci to 66/33, instead I left it on auto. There were no initial problems though. Later on I changed it, still no problems. But when I started playing some 3d games like ArmyOps or Quake3 I'd get these random glitches, the screen would go multicolored and freeze and the system would restart eventually. Not only did I get this in games but once or twice when I was messing with a java news updater and another time when I was checking my email with outlook.

I'm hard pressed to figure out the problem here because I'm skeptical that it's the actual video card overheating, because it'll crash regardless that I opened up my case and propped the front fan right next to it to insure it would be kept cool.

On my last computer I got bsod errors pertaining to nv4 something yada yada and it seems to be happening again. What I'm wondering is, could it be a conflict with IRQs, could it be heating, could it be the Soundblaster Live! or the Macronix ethernet card which I carried over from my last computer that could be somehow conflicting with the video operation? I'm just not sure anymore, I tried upping the voltage a while back but not even that seemed to help at all. I also set the memory to 2.5cl, keeping the other two options on 2.

I bought a new computer so i could avoid these video problems but they just keep on turning up, I need a whiz on this one.

try bumping up the vcore and see if it helps any. your video card shouldnt be overheating since the AGP bus is locked at 66mhz.

I am not sure about the video card but the 4:3 is undeclocking your ram.Your better off using 1:1 or flip dip switch 6 on in your mobo and and that will give you 3:4,better ratio. In the bios 1:1 will be 3:4 and 4:3 will be 1:1.You first go in your bios and set fsb to 133-134.Save and exit the bios and soon as your machine starts to boot shut it down (power down) at the hard drive cd-rom detection screen.Go in your mobo and flip dip switch 6 on "only" and the rest should be off.Boot up and go in your bios if you like and raise the fsb to your liking or just boot right up and play from there.

I just tried the 6 dip switch method and it didn't work I got an error on startup. But I didn't restart after setting the FSB to 133 until after the BIOS screen came up. Is that the problem? ATM I'm running 1:1. Could memory even cause a video problem like that?

On a side note I brought FSB up to 160, I mean I'm happy I hit 160 with FSB and windows booted up nicely, but even with the memory set at 1:1 I crashed in-game, same problem.

It's either my video card or it has to be a compatibility issue. Any ideas? Has this happened to anybody?
Forgot to mention, I set my computer to automatic regular 1600mhz and it still had the same video problem.

First lock your agp/pci to 33.33/66.66 and leave it there.Set your memory to the lowest setting 2.5/3/3/7.Downolad prime95 first here Domnload programs .Under options run torture test.Let it run for 1 hour or 2 for testing. When you find your best O\C let it run overnight and seeif it errors. If you error you have to raise your voltage up a notch.Your setting 160fsb might be too much to handle.I can only get 144-146 stable at 1.7V with my CPU at 2.3GHz.Your mobo overvolts .06 at idle so I would not set the voltage past 1.650-1.675 in the bios to be safe.Using 3:4 ratio it overvolts an extra .01-.02 so you would be looking at 0.08 at idle. The 3:4 should work, don't start at a real high FSB,try around 135 first and boot up.Download WCPU at the link I gave you. There is an arrow you click on with your mouse on the top right that will open the front page a little more and show your memory MHz.Here is the link for the 3:4 hack.Thugrook will say on around the 3rd 4th page how it works. The way I explained it should work. 3/4

When I originally ran my PC I had it set on auto even when i overclocked to around 150-155, does that mean i could have potentially messed up my video card or something?

the 3:4 still isn't working

actually the full thread is posted here.

that samsung memory of yours my not be good enoough ~ i know mine was cr@p and couldnt go higher than 375ddr on the lamest settings.

but could it actually be a memory problem that's making my graphics crash into some multicolored frenzy and then freezing? Or does it have to be a video problem, or a compatibility problem?

I know my CPU runs at 29C @ 155fsb, 31C at 160fsb, and the mobo remains about 26-27 either way...

it's the crashing that's just killing me, i also remember setting everything at default and even then the games crashed.. so it can't actually be the o/c itself...
