Video playback gets really bright

Anyone else have this problem? it seems like when I watch videos)avi), they will all of a sudden get bright. This is using Media Player.

To be specific. I could watch clips from say 5 videos. Then when I start a new video, it just turns out being way brighter than it should be. The other videos that played back fine are also overly bright. The only fix is a reboot.

Is this a common issue? Anyone else have thuis problem?

Fixes? Better playback programs?

Thanks,
Karl

I've fixed this before, not sure if I remember it exactly, but I'll give it a shot. Assuming you've got an nVidia card:

Right-click desktop
Properties
Settings tab
Advanced
GeForce xxx tab
Color Correction (on the left pop out menu)
Apply color changes to: Overlay
Color Profile: Advanced mode
Apply
OK

That should do it, I think. Let me know.

🙂

Yes, NVidia.

Trying your procedure now.

OMG, it worked!

You are awesome! Is this a permanent fix? or do I have to do this every time the issue comes up?

I'm not sure what the cause is. However, you shouldn't need to do this again, except maybe if you upgrade video drivers or a new video card or reinstall Windows or such.
