Plane tilting, passengers screaming, the sudden roar of the engines, then 30 seconds later at 2,000 feet to a pin-drop quiet cabin, the pilot's voice over the intercom, "Folks, we'll be circling around in a few moments to try that again... "

Damn, you would think they would try to put it down instead of taking off again in case there was major structure damage.

???

Those wings are made to flex like mad. He tried to put it down, didn't like it an hit the throttle. Excellent work by the pilot to not overcorrect. He did everything he could to keep those wings level and it wasn't working.

PILOTS! - did the tower tell him to abort or did he? Eitherway, awesome flying.

Not all of them.

Pilots train for this scenario over and over and over again. It was pretty much a textbook xwind landing until that surprise gust blew him way off. He then did what he was trained to do and gunned it.

..more then likely the wing box is damaged but it's prob.procedure to do what they did.

Yeah, about as perfect as he could have done it really, unexpected gusts will throw off even the best of pilots.

As far as it being computer controlled, almost all of the flight is, and today most airplanes can even land themselves and apply the braking, however, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost certain the pilot would be in control of a situation like that.

Yea. There would be no way in hell a pilot would allow a computer to control a landing in a heavy crosswind like that. Pretty much the only thing controlled by the computer in a landing is maintaining a correct glidepath, and even then airline pilots don't always use the computer for that.

Looks like the pilot was coming in perfectly but a huge gust caught the plane and blew it further sideways. Quick thinking by the pilot.

I am just happy they had good flight crew on that plane.
