My friend was looking to build a PC for light video and photo editing (using Adobe software) and he had a budget of under $2k, so I put this together for him.

NE Wish List

The case, keyboard, and mouse are just suggestions I threw in there to give him a general idea of price.

Is there anything I seem to be missing?

For photo or video editing I would go dual 19" or at least single 22" monitor.

You could get away with a 4300 or 6300 easily w/ or without a mild overclock.

Your gonna want an OS.

I would go with a 8800gts 320 isnt much more than the one you have listed.

Everything looks nice the way it is though.

I don't know how serious you are about it, but if you are doing pro work, remember that inexpensive LCD monitors are not always color accurate. They will be fine for family stuff. If you video editor is Pinnacle Studio, switch to an ATI card. Otherwise, everything is good with the exception of HDD. Add 2 more drives. In video editing, you want an OS, Source and Render/Destination drive for peak efficiency. Some photo editors would better with a scratch drive for intermediate work too. "E:" to keep your files on, "F:" to output to will always be snappy.

Edit - Nice to have, add a Wacom tablet/pad.

He's right that you are going to want an extra HD to go along with the Photoshop. I use Photoshop and Nero and I use one drive for my OS and apps, and the second for the media.
 
You don't say what Adobe software, so I'll assume you mean Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements. I use both on an Opteron dual core. 1GB of memory works well, but you probably should go with 2GB. Above 2GB, you actually run into memory problems since those Adobe products have notably bad memory management. In heavy editing situations, once an hour I will save my work, close Premiere, then reopen. It beats having it crash on low memory.

I would argue that a monitor w/ at least a 1600x1200 resolution be minimum (especially for photo work), and that dual monitors would actually be more productive for this type of work. I have a couple of friends who do video work who swear by that.
