Some may be interested in what exactly the "Black screen" issue is.

Issue happens at 1:35

Here is a picture of the frame RIGHT before it happens. Notice the bottom of the screens?

Are you overclocking by chance? I have that happen from time to time if my clocks are too high in Valley. Valley just crashes, or the driver crashes and resets (Afterburner has driver reset upon suspended mode in the Beta 3.15)

If I hit ctrl+alt+del, I can get to the start screen to start the task manager and end Valley.

It doesn't happen allot...but it does happen if I like I say I get my clocks too high (back when I was searching for my highest clocks trying to get my best score).

Those were stock clocks.

That's disappointing. Have you started RMA with Sapphire, or are you going to chase it a bit further with drivers/etc?

The problem is pretty well known on multiple forums. I havent seen much complaint on here however. Consensus seems to be Bios/Driver related at this time. Which yes, is why I haven't RMAd yet.

As an example to how large of an issue it is. This should give you an idea.

Custom water loop + de lided. Doesnt break 60c in benchs. 69-70 Intel burn / prime.

It's 5.0 @ 1.485

Well, that obviously is not the issue then. Are your 290s water cooled as well then?

Just curious because the power they draw makes me wonder if something is overheating on the pcb causing instability due to the high temp target.

Not yet, no. And over heating is my question as well. Before the black screen I did sucessfully run Valley just before.

I'm on the ledge of buying blocks for my cards. But I'd hate to, find out there is an issue, and not be able to RMA them.

Why are all three monitors showing the same thing? Shouldn't the cards see the three monitors as one bigger pixel count as opposed to mirroring the image on the three monitors? Or is that a limitation of running that bench?

I'd put the CPU back to stock, try again and see what happens. Then try one card and then the other. Send the video to Sapphire support, see what they say. I know the CPU likely isn't the issue, but I'd put it at factory clocks just to rule it out, and I imagine it will get you further with Sapphire's support.

That sucks, brand new video cards giving you problems. 🙁

I had two Sapphire 290X's. The one I opened and played with gave me black screen issues, but only after flashing BIOS to the Asus one. The card had coil whine too, so I just refund/RMA'd it.

You can still RMA those cards even after putting blocks on them, Sapphire doesn't void warranty over a cooler change.

What happens if you manually set the fans to 100%? I know it will be way loud, but it should let them run without throttling. Could help let you know if its temp related.

Valley has black screened on my 7950 if I OC too high. Pretty sure in my case it is the app crashing.
