That's who made the list. The this table covers only attacks by dogs of clearly identified breed type or ancestry, as designated by animal control officers or others with evident expertise , who have been kept as pets

just because a publication crunches the numbers does not make it a media based source.

Of course it was justified. It was a pit bull.

Can someone tell me what happened? I clicked on the hot weather newscaster before the video finished.

The media calls every dog attack a pitbull attack, even when the dog is not a pitbull, I am sure those "statistics" are complete bullshit that were taken from biased media sources.

You people crack me up. Anytime facts/statistics etc. go against what you "believe" to be true..its bias LOL

The slipped a few seconds before the shot. I'd damn sure not want to be taken around the neck by a dog.

There's something wrong with the person recording. Get a blunt object and beat the #$%^ out of the animal.

There's also something wrong with the guy that's just sitting there with a dog latched onto his arm. Use your other arm and punch the @#$% out of the dog's face. Gouge its eyes. Make it regret attacking you. Some people just have no idea how to intimidate a dog. Sheesh.

Dogs can escape their surroundings, accidents happen. If my dog went out and started mauling a kid, I'd shoot him.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but you came out like any animal that tries to protect itself (or it's surroundings) is the result of bad owners.

It is the owner's fault any time a dog is a threat to someone that shouldn't be threatened. Sure, accidents happen but the owner chooses to keep that dog. They have control over where they keep the dog and what they do with the dog. If the dog "escapes its surroundings" as you put it the owner didn't properly secure them and anything the dog does is the fault of that owner.

I support this officer's decision to shoot the dog, but I sure as shit wouldn't want him blasting off a shotgun aimed six inches away from my legs.

I would much rather him take the shot than the dog latch onto me. Given that he is probably loaded with 00 buck, at that range the pattern won't have opened up much at all. Also, having personally shot a pitbull with a couple of .45ACP hollow points and watching it run away like it wasn't hit, the 12ga is definitely the correct tool for the job.

tbh, it looks like the dogs are just trying to play. Still, not a chance I'd take, and no fault on the officer. Unfortunately you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes.

Serious question: Does OP know the meaning of "NSFW?"

in general it implies either an adult content, bloody content, or gross content.

Means: "be prepared to see tits, guts, or something gross". Whats wrong with my label? We like to argue on the Internets over some stupid bullshit, aren't we?

They were lucky that the pit bulls didn't have guns or this might have turned out differently...

Part of me says he should have gave more time, another part of me says, good job. Who knows what more time could have done. That dog was dangerously close and when the guy fell he was in a compromised position from the dog's point of view so he could have been jumped.

It looks like all 3 dogs are badly trained and sadly it would be very hard to rehabilitate them. If they ended up at the shelter chances are no one would want them either. I'm guessing the animal control person was there to take them away, but not sure of the context.

wow, crazy how the other officers were so calm. There was a loose dog on my friends block last night and he came charging at me at 100 mph, I took off like a bat but he caught me...turned out to be the friendliest lab/pitbull mix.

That's why they chase you...because you run.

So if the other two ran away nice and quickly after the gun shot why didn't he just try firing a shot at the floor?
