Heh...we've all seen this already. We all know that AMD has heat issues but are you really going to take off your heat sink while running your computer? I mean it could fall off or the fan could give out, but chances of that are really slim. To me, the price/performance ratio of the Athlon is enough to risk my heat sink falling off accidentally.

I actually did have the heatsink fall off once. It was NOT a pretty sight (though the mainboard did survive).

i don't really care if an athlon can burn up if my fans would fall off or fail...

as long as i got a good HSF on my TBird i don't think my TBird would burn...
sure the P4 survived w/o HSF but for what the price tag on P4 seemed ridiculous for me

my fan shorted out before and my athlon went up to 100C. Itwas the motherboard that shorted out and none of the fans worked. And my bird lived and still kicking it!!!

I was playing Serious Sam for a good 20 minutes before the computer crashed due to 100C heat@!!

ouch.........ive run awhile with my cpu fan not running....temps were up and i found fan unpluged.... but i have the all mighty swifty 462.....probably could run a long time without a fan.....but would'nt want to try it
