23' Long and it was not known to exist until recently. The footage was captured at 11'000 feet! Very cool looking!

Yes they are though everytime I read a story like this, I think of that cheesy made for TV movie with that guy from CSI in it. It was about a giant Squid attacking people, and they kept trying to sound all scientific by overusing the word "Arcatoothus":

"I think I see the Arcatoothus!"
"No the Arcatoothus is under our boat!"
"Noooo! I am being eaten alive by the Arcatooothuuu...."

Whenever I think of giant squid, I think of Michael Crichton's Sphere. The squid scenes in that book gave me nightmares.

Beast was the name of that movie, it was from a Peter Benchley book (the book was much better IMO)..

They still haven't caught a true giant squid on film yet.....soon though...

I wonder what other "giant" creatures are in the ocean that we don't know about. Nice that there is one realm that humans aren't able to effect (deforestation, pollution, habitat intrusion etc) in a great way yet. I hope it stays that way.
