Video/Movie Quality Inferior on LCD compared to CRT?

I recently got the Viewsonic 19 inch VA902B LCD monitor. Switching from a 19 inch Toshiba CRT. Anyhow my movies i watch, mostly DVDRip's on XviD codecs seem to be much less crisp and... inferior quality. These movies are the same ones i've watched on my CRT.

Browsing websites is much nicer on the LCD, but playing movies and videos seems to be a lot worse picture quality than on my CRT. i've installed the viewsonic drivers from the CD, and while the monitor has no dvi, i don't think thats the cause.

does anyone know if this is my video card drivers, my video card itself, or something else? or it just LCD's arent good at playing movies?

I'm also wondering if my refreshrate has something to do with it. I have it set at 70hz right now, and at the native 1280x1024 res.

Here's the monitor specs: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produ...e=231786&ps=ma6

LCDs are not like CRTs when it comes to refresh rates. You should
set the "refresh" rate to that is specified in the manual, normally 60 or 75.

I have ViewSonic's VA712 LCD. I think it's 8ms.

The gaming and video are quite a bit better than my previous 15" Samsung CRT. For me, the LCD has been much better than my CRT monitor.

I love my CRTs more than LCDs (at least the ones I have seen). Everything on an LCD to me looks soft. On an CRT it looks nice and crisp 🙂
