...oooh looks like fun. looks like an 80's american truck from a distance.

But that truck features a bare metal cabin and power from a 185-hp diesel. The AMG engineers swapped the drivetrain from the G63 AMG, featuring a 5.5-liter, twin-turbo V-8 good for 536 hp, mated to a seven-speed transmission, good enough to hustle the 8,300-lb. juggernaut to 60 mph in about six seconds. Inside, there's room for four passengers to ride in a tableau of luxury, from the quilted white leather seats and carbon-fiber accented dash to the bamboo-lined cargo area.

As for the six wheels, they're not just for show. AMG splits the torque 30/40/30 among the axles from front to rear for maximum traction, with locking differentials for all 37-inch wheels; the 6x6 can ford water more than three feet deep and its 52-degree approach angle means it will climb most anything short of a sheer cliff face. For desert travels, the tires can be inflated and deflated from a panel in the cabin.

holy crap

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG 6X6 truck will go on sale this October and will set you back with the price of a new Lamborghini Aventador, in money this means about 350.000 Euro ($457,000).

Well, you get 100% more seats, 50% more powered wheels, and 150% more mass for your money :awe:
And only about 20% horse power less? Sounds like a bargain!

Plus, when your Aventador has turned into a submarine, that truck will still happily chug on through the water :D

I wonder if the Russians will do something similar based on a 6x6 Ural:

I'm somewhat at loss of words.
It's at the same time awesome and awful.
Terrible and terrifying.
Moreso than even a normal G63.

Only 6X6 I ever ever had much experience with was the US Army's Deuce and a half.

Our platoon had its own Deuce and a half. Nothing like spending the night out in the rain and seeing it come down the perimeter road at dawn.

It never failed to get us out to the perimeter at sun down. And it never failed to get us back at sun up. Wonderful machine.

They are fairly cheap to pick up on the used market as well. They are regularly auctioned off by the gov't.

The Ol gear jammer's -

Thankfully these were being phased out during my time of service and we had respectable 5-tons for wheeled vehicles and APC's for track vehicles. When you showed up to the motor pool and your 5-ton was in the shop and they offered you a gear jammer you knew you were fucked.

G-Wagon for the homey that has it all. I bet you have to register it as commercial thanks to the tandem axles. Do two more drive wheels really do anything more when you're rock crawling? I would think four wheels spaced further apart with more ground clearance would be more beneficial.

Nobody noticed the portal axles? That thing has insane ground clearance

No, more wheels mean better breakover angle. Take out the center axle and that vehicle would high center pretty easily! Plus 50% more wheels means the suspension can be 66% as stiff, yet body roll will be the same!
