Video Memory in Notebooks

I am about to buy a notebok that has 32MB - 64MB user adjustable video memory. I have not heard of this before and am wondering if it is a waste of my time buying the notebook. It has a dvd player with a TV out and I was hoping to use it as a home DVD player as well but am unsure of what the quality will be like with this video memory. I would really appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this for me.

it will have a PIII 1Ghz with 512MB RAM

Also what would be the advantages of having it on 32MB as opposed to 64MB.
