Weird? Very!
My work purchased an ASUS Geforce2 card for me about a year ago, not sure the exact model. It worked fine for a little while but then sometimes when I'd turn on the computer, I would be presented with very bright and vivid colors that would be either horizontal or vertical lines (sorta?). As the PC loaded, it'd change colors and patterns. After it loaded, I could apparently login to windows (just guessing by the sounds of hard drive and speakers), but the video was simply messed up!
This wouldn't happen "all the time" though, I could power cycle the thing and it'd work just fine.
We RMA'd the card and got a replacement about 6 months ago. However, it soon began to present the same problem (I seriously wonder if they tested it once and shipped the same card back). I tried reseating the card, I put another card in the system to see if it would still happen... it didn't. I tried everything I could think of.
It finally got the point where it was unusable almost. So I brought in my Geforce4 and took the Geforce2 home. I haven't had the problem with my work machine anymore, and now I have the problem at home, which leads me to feel it's for sure the video card alone and nothing with the computer it's in.
Any ideas on what this is a symptom of? Can it be resolved? If not, I'm pissed at ASUS for sending me two crappy cards
Thanks for your time.
