Video is color on TV but B&W on PC

i got such great help the other day i thought i'd try again:

I can now successfully capture video through my capture card onto my HD using MS Moviemaker software. The problem is that all the feed is B&W but when i view the same video off of the camcorder onto my TV it's in color. both images are good quality but the captured-to-pc version is B&W!! i didn't change any of the settings anywhere, so i am kind of curious if this some limitation of the capture card or the camera. any help would be truly appreciated. thank you

Maybe its the cable itself, or maybe you have the wrong video standard selected in Windows Movie maker for the input you are using.

Most likely you're trying to cap via S-Video and somehow the chroma (color) information is getting lost. Either:

A) your S-Video cable is shot or is not making a good connection. Make sure it's snug in the sockets on both ends. Or...

B) your capture card's S-Video input is shot (it can't be the source, since it plays back on the TV fine). Or...

C) you have something set wrong (like maybe it thinks it's trying to capture composite instead of S-Video).

Check your settings, check your cable, and/or try using a composite (RCA) input for capture.

Or maybe it's just simple PAL vs NTSC.

Are you sure both ends are using the same standard? I.e., both are using NTSC?

once again the ATeam comes through. i thought the port on the back of the card was Svideo. it wasnt, it was composite. hats of to you all and mucho thanks
