Video incoding?

Is there a way to incode video so I can burn it to DVD? For excample: Divx. Nero or Roxio won't do it, or I just don't know how. But when I try the encoding features it says unrecognisable format.

Is the file you're trying to encode from divx? I use TMPGEnc to convert my divx files to mpeg2, which can be played in dvd players.
