Video hangs with my Radeon 32 meg DDR... any ideas?

I installed the latest drivers from ATI's site. If I start playing Quake III, it'll run fine for a bit, then hang. The music and sounds will hang also.

Abit KA7 with latest bios and Via drivers
Windows 2000 with SP1 and updated Via AGP drivers
Radeon 32meg DDR with latest official drivers from ATI's site

Normal mode drops you AGP down to 2X. VIA has a lot of compatibility issues with 4X, and this is why normal mode will fix a lot of game problems. It also improves overall stability. Very little performance difference between 2X and 4X.
