Video going blank when I open or minimize programs

I've got a machine with an Asus A7n8x, running XP Pro, with a rosewill 9200se agp video card. Using DVI connector. When I open up certain programs or minimize them, the whole screen goes blank for a few seconds.

What does this mean?

It might be the video card driver? Try to change it to something else. Also, if you can, try to use (as a test) the VGA output of the video card.
There might be some problems with transparency/window animation

I tested it under VGA and it works fine (using the VGA connector). So the problem is related to using DVI.

I'm going to try and update the drivers now.

I updated the drivers and installed the drivers for the monitor and it's still having but not as often as before. It was happening constantly when I played a wmv file. Mpeg files play fine.

Any other ideas?

nope, it was with my 6800GT, didn't do it with analog, only with DVI, and I think it was using older drivers that got it working right, but can't remember for sure
