Video gaming site with NO videos?

Are there any videogame review/preview sites that aren't full of videos? I used Gamespot (the new layout is terrible so I no longer go there) and IGN but now it seems like both are 90% videos and I couldn't give any less of a flying **** about videos.

I want to read my news, read my reviews, read the previews, etc. Is there still such a thing or am I just stuck in the last decade?

rockpapershotgun.com

They sometimes link to videos (like gameplay videos, interviews, etc) inside their articles, but the vast majority of their pieces are written.

My favourites right now are rockpapershotgun.com and pcgamer.com. I also occasionally read Eurogamer.net articles and dsogaming.com can sometimes have exclusives that I don't see on the others.

But in terms of reviews I don't find any of these sites are really any good for that! Actually I tend to use metacritic to find the reviews, good and bad and go read them myself. I haven't really settled on one site I think is universally doing well on reviews and I still feel no one is really very good right now, it either smells of cheetos or the review doesn't really get into what I really want.

I also watch steam new games so if I haven't heard of it then at least I will spot that its new and go read up on it.

Like the OP, I hate video reviews. They almost always suck rat balls. Give me a well written article review with a few short video examples any day. I find I can absorb the info quicker when reading too rather than wait for the guy to speak the review.

Yeah every time I a review on IGN or something links to a video review I immediately close it and find somewhere that has a written review. I just don't like the people they get in videos to review and the crap they typically talk about. Unfortunately a lot of websites use video reviews and don't do written reviews at all.

To me it's easy, I want to see a game, I'll get a video on Youtube... but to read the details, that's where I would like some text.

pcgamer.com looks interest, maybe I'll start using that.

I like eurogamer. They have a nice comments section at the bottom of every article as well, and I appreciate their technical insight which goes a bit further than most other places.

I use polygon these days. There are video reviews, but the review links dont go directly to them. Most of that website is text, part of why I like it.

I do a search on you tube because I only like video game reviews that include actual game play and only from a you tuber, never from a "professional reviewer". Angry Joe is good.

I need to start checking out rock paper. Just on Friday I spoke with a co-worker about many news sites (not video games) tending to using more videos and we both hate it. It's lazy and inefficient. A lot of people hate them. I see top-rated comments on IGN often after a video something like "For those not wanting to watch the video, IGN gave this game an 8.5". I hate them. Even three minutes is too long unless I specifically looked for it.
