Emulation. I have ALL the N64 games :p

Golden Eye. Jesus I played that game ALOT. I mean, ALOT ALOT. At the time it came out I had no job and my friends downstairs had no job. We both would do our thing during the day, then hang out and night and just got drunk and high and play that game till like 4 in the morning every night. Life was good back then......

Computers will stop advancing so as to allow consoles to close the formidable gap? Why wasn't I informed of this? I'll go get a 6800GT now that I know it'll be the best card for the next 5-7 years :p

computer > console

for one thing, when you get a new computer, it still plays all your old games, only better than before. plus it can play the console's games with an emulator.

I used to think this way. Now I think console > computer. Why? Because I don't have to upgrade my console every 6 months and the console doesn't cost nearly as much to begin with. Not to mention that it isnt a pain in the ass to hook my console up to a 60" TV.

I have a feeling that in about 7 years computer gaming will pretty much be done. Hell, we already get jack for the most part anyway when it comes to PC only stuff. FPS's will at some point be more playable on consoles and then what do you have left as a computer gaming advantage?

Nobody needs to upgrade their rig every 6 months either, and they cost more because they can do so much more.

Many video cards have s-video out and come with a wire. It's as simple as hooking up a console.

It's called resolution. But you bring up an excellent point; game selection is the only thing consoles have going for them. I believe consoles only exist because computers "r 2 hrd 4" most people, and because Micro$oft owns a successful console business (perhaps 'per$uading' companies to hold off on releasing games for the PC).

Console.
It's so nice to get a new game, load it into the console and just have it work. No messing with driver updates and patches. No praying that the minimum requirements aren't overly optimistic. No worries that the first time you try to play you will spend an hour trying to figure out why it doesn't work right.

IMO, it all depends on what type of game you play. PC's rock for hardware-intensive games like FPS's and MMORPG's, but I personally prefer consoles.

I spend all day at work in front of a PC. when I get home, I find sitting on the couch and vegging out with a console game a lot more relaxing than sitting back down in front of a PC again.

This sounds like how someone with a Dell would think. If you even somewhat follow computing it's a non-issue, as updates are a matter of course. You may as well complain about cars because you have to change the oil.

Shockwave, just curious -- what do you use for a controller on your N64 emulator?

their are talented people who can make emulator that matches the real thing or even surpasses it but something like psx, xbox, gamecube, and even psx2 is too complicated for them to emulate.

I'm a pretty tech savvy guy and can tell you flat out that it would not be convenient for me to hook my computer up to a massive TV. I don't keep my comp in the living room. Maybe some do, but I have a feeling that the average person does not.

Indeed. Also, try playing a RTS like Rise of Nations with XBox controls...not gonna work out too well either. I  my PC for gaming.
