In this case I'm talking specifically about the game 'Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel'

(which by the way is a KICK ASS game!!!).

The gameplay and storyline is great, but (even as jaded as I am) the cursing and profanity in the game is just completely unnecesary.

The graphic violence is there, but that's about standard issue nowadays for games...But the constant 'F' this, you're a **sucker that, and so on is just bad. It's no big deal for me as and adult, but I just kept thinking that kids are going to be playing this game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a pretty liberal guy...But this game is just insane with the profanity.

Would the parents of those kids not be at blame then for examining what they were about to turn their children loose on? I'm not saying that a video game needs a lot of profanity to be good, but if a kids hears it, the parents are to blame.

If it is labled with a mature rating, then it's fine by me. There is nothing more to be done.
It is no more harming than if they here it on TV, in a song, or from their peers.

That said, I think that if used selectively and in intense scenes, it can add to a game. If used in common dialog and very frequently, it makes up for a lack of creative talent on behalf of the writers.

It just seems to me that games such as this were targeted at those kids in the 'curseing is cool' phase and who have the parents that are 'lax' in their responsibilities (which is A LOT) so they'll buy this software.

And that 'For Mature Audiences' sticker might be a warning for Parents...BUT it's also a billboard that says 'get your violence and profanity here' to kids.
