For some odd reason I am seeing slight freezes or stuttering about every ten or so seconds whenever I play any kind of video file, whether it be divx, h264, mkv, etc. etc. I have tried playing the video files with VLC, Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, etc. etc. and they all exhibit the same behavior on both my LCD monitor and HDTV. I didn't have this problem as of two days ago, and the only thing I changed on the system is that I am now running a SPDIF cable from my 9600GT to my onboard sound. Here is the setup:
Abit IP35 Motherboard
E8400 running at stock speed
2x2 of G-Skill DDR2-800
Palit 512 Meg 9600GT PCI-Ex
Vista Ultimate X64
WD6400AAKS Sata Harddrive contains my OS
WD 1 Terabyte Green SATA harddrive with the video files in question
I have the video card hooked up to two displays. I have my BenQ E2400HD LCD monitor hooked up via a DVI-D to HDMI cable (DVI-D on video card to HDMI on monitor), as well as straight HDMI to HDMI running to a 32" Vizio V032LF HDTV. I am running both displays at their native 1920x1080 at 60HZ refresh.
I used to run the HDTV via Component video, and just used an old RCA mini-din to L/R stereo for sound. When I had it set up this way, there was no stuttering/freezing.
I went ahead and reverted back to having it hooked up via Component video, but yet the stuttering and freezing still remained.
What's odd is there is absolutely no audio stutter at all, and the picture doesn't stutter or freeze but for just a fraction of a second, but yet it is enough to annoy me.
Has anyone ever seen this problem?
Thanks.
