This might be a little off the subject, but I thought that there will be people that knows a whole lot about videoformats in this forum.
I'am looking to buy a digital recording system (recording from TV-stations onto HD with rather high compression) and we have to choose the standard for Video. Problem is I don't know that much about all the different Videotypes available (mpeg-1, mpeg-2, Realformat, mpeg-4, asf, etc) so I would like to find some place on the Internet where I can study this more, with technical descriptions, what you can do with the formats etc. And also how streaming video works and what signifies different bitrates etc. I've tried to search a couple of times - but didn't find anything useful. So, I am wondering if you have tips for places on the net where I could find this type of information, such as a guide to video formats, streaming or similar.
