Video Files Simply Vanished!!

Yesterday I installed Videoredo for edititing .ts & mpg files. After I noticed that all of my .ts & .mpg files in one folder had completely vanished! They have not been moved or deleted, it's like they had never been there in the first place? Over 400GB of HDTV vanished before my eyes from my hard drive! I have tried recovery software, however, it does not work because it's like the files were never there? WTF? No viruses or spyware either BTW.
