Video file problems

My video card is a 6800gt I am on windows xp and my cpu is amd64 3000.

My problem is this whenever viewing video files the video is awful its pixelated and the color is totally drowned out. Its not the video files because I went to some old files that I knew to be good and the same thing happened. I have tried different video players but still get same thing. While playing games or going to websites the graphics are fine so I know my video card isn't shot. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
