There's a video out there from the 50s/60s where a whale carcass washed up on shore. Local authorities decided to blow it up with dynamite so it would decompose faster. The best part was when onlookers came to watch. The bits of rotting whale flesh showered them and their cars. Search for it, I'm sure you can find the video.
