[VIDEO] Evo drives the Ferrari 599 GTO

Do. Freaking. Want.

They have three other videos where they are flogging it around Ferrari's test track, but I think the road test video above is more interesting.

Damn this car is amazing. I love cars that can do everything well and exemplify quality engineering. And that's saying a lot from me, I don't generally appreciate pasta rockets.

Ferrari knocks another one out of the park, following the immensely badass F458 Italia. Lambo, Porsche/Audi, and Toyota (LF-A, lol) can't seem to match this kind of intensity at the upper echelons of ass-kicking. Of course, something like a 911 Turbo, Z06/ZR1, GT-R is a lot more practical day-to-day and relating to TCO.

I've never really warmed to the 599, in part because the 550/575 was so pretty and I don't like the 599's looks. That said, the pace of this car is absolutely insane - nearly two seconds under 7 minutes on the Nordschliefe is just ridiculous for a street-legal car. If it's in any way streetable it has to be high on one's World's Best Car list.

personally i'm of the opinion that you either do it really big (ie, large V8/10 like the vette/viper) or you do it really high (F1, racebike engines screaming at 16,000+ rpm)

this sits in the middle. don't get me wrong though - it still sounds fantastic.

the only italian car that's really hit me was a lamborghini LP640 superleggera (or superveloce, can't remember)... oh my god the car sounded so mean. it was literally like a raging bull taking a corner. THAT was awesome

Very cool! Love the sound of that car...that's how a car should sound.

Still, the technology represents everything that is wrong with the modern car. A proper sports car should have a clutch pedal and a shift lever...not flappy paddles.
