Video Editing?

What software and hardware do I need that will provide decent results with video editing? I have tons of Hi-8 tapes that I'd like to edit and transfer back to VHS as well as DVD formats. Don't need professional quality but not crap either. Any other places to find this type of info?

Simple advice: get a PCI card so you can change your AGP card independently of your video editing. The support and drivers from dedicated companies like Hauppage is very good as well.
