Video Editing

I have a client who is interested in video editing. He wants to buy a new system for it. What video cards should I recommend as far as editing goes. I know absolutely nothing about this topic. Should he have a capture card as well as a regular video card, or can he get away with just a video card. What software will he need. Hope this is clear enough..................

Before anyone can give you a clear response, you need to tell us how serious this guy is about video editing.

- Home movie editing?

- Professional movie editing?

- Budget?

What type of Camera's does he use? Digital? Analog? What does he want to do with the video when he is finished? VHS? DVD? Web? CD? All these questions make a difference when one considers going into video editing. The one constant is that his computer will need plenty of horse power, unless he doesn't mind waiting a while for the effects and editing to take effect. A nice dual proc. system would be a good idea.
