Windows Movie Maker - its part of WinXP and works great if you don't have real complicated editing needs.

no, it is not... until you read some good guides.

Stick with it though... once you're familiar with all the options the first or second time through, it's one of the best free software that allows that many options... most of the "easy" ones are one-click solutions that don't allow you to tweak much.
