I just bought a cheap firewire card to use w/ my minidv camcorder, but it doesn't come with software. Does anyone know of any decent free video editing software that will transfer from minidv via firewire? Thanks.

>Does anyone know of any decent free video editing software

what do you mean by 'decent'... ?

I can recommend $2000 software that will do very decent video editing. Or I can recommend a $20 shareware that can do a somewhat decent job.

He wanted something FREE, not something that costs $2000 or $20. And here's my contribution that is free.

I downloaded Virtual Edit, but I get the following error when I try to do a DV Capture:

Cannot open DV device, please make sure it is connected and switched on
CAUSE: Cannot find a specific DirectShow Device to perform an operation.
DEBUG CODE: 0x00000000
I have a Sharp VL-Z3. The camera is on and in play mode. Any ideas? Thanks.

jahshaka? I downloaded the program, but it apears that I have to download more stuff for it to work with video. I am on dialup so I will do it one night that I am not on the computer.

Is it worth my time to dl it?

BTW it is at sourceforge.net

>He wanted something FREE,

my bad I didn't see the free. Somehow free, decent and Video Editor don't belong in the same sentence. It's like asking for a nutritious, fat-free pizza.

When I say decent, I mean something that actually works and won't crash my computer. I'm not looking for fancy features.
