Video driver issue

Hi, new to posting but I've been reading here for a little while.

I've been helping a friend out with installing a video card. It's an Ati 9200 and I've installed the latest catalyst drivers from ATI. No problems there except I can change the resolution but the desktop does not fill up the entire screen. Even using the controls on the monitor does not get the image to fit the screen. I can't seem to find any help using google either. Can anyone help me out?
