Video doesn't work on New Build

E6300
1GB DDR667
eVGA 7900GS KO

When we put the video card in the first PCI-e slot the mobo, the video will not work, I get nothing when it comes on. We tried the card in the second slot and it works fine, albiet at 1x.

Any ideas on what I can do? What I can check or change to make it work?

EDIT: We have RMA'ed the mobo to newegg and received the replacement, still the same problem.
 
That PCI-e card is the only one that I have, unfortunately. I thought about running out to Best Buy and buying the cheapest one and trying it, but I tend to be a little bit of a cheapskate.
