I have an ATI X800 XT PE and the TV Wonder Pro.

Problem:
The sound is about 3/4 second ahead of video.
It was stated that some TV Tuner cards have a video delay.

Is there a way to delay sound the same amount so that the two are in sync?

DVD's and downloaded movies play in sync.

YOu might have to reencode the audio with the video.

My X-Box can delay/advance the sound but I havent seen software to do the same on the fly.

I have also had this problem with the TV wonder whenever i am trying to record to the hard drive. THe audio is slightly out of sync with the video. I am not sure what the problem is. I use an SBLive and have a Athlon 64 3400+ so I should have enough power to handle the video recording.....

That happens typically when you run the sound through a loopback cable, directly into the sound codec, whilst running the video through the PCI bus and through advanced deinterlacers and filters. The solution is to run the audio through the PCI bus as well, not using the loopback cable. Alternatively, if your TV card can't do that, turn all that filtering stuff off and do direct-to-overlay viewing.

Its always been a problem on video capture cards that dont have onboard audio but use the sound cards inputs.

That why unless it High Definition I tell everyone to just buy a set top 100.00 dvd recorder. Much more painless and has a secondary feature of killing off the VCR for good.

I have the same problem with my Daughters TV Wonder Pro. I found that closing and re-opening the program would correct the problem. After some toying around I found that it seems to happen when I would re-size the Window that the TV was playing in. I honestly can't remember if it happens more in small Windows or large. I never told my Daughter how to fix it because it was so slight, she has never complained about it. Try re-sizing the Window, I think it will go away.

The more I think about it, I think that I set it to open up in a 'Full Screen' and that ended the problem. I think that starting in a small Window and then re-sizing to a full Window would cause the speech delay. Setting the program to open in a Full Window eliminated the problem (that is the way I am remembering it, I'd have to sit down and mess with it for a while to actually see what I did). Besides, that is the way she uses the TV Tuner, Full screen, how many people watch in tiny Windows?

The problem is so slight on my Daughters rig that I am keeping my eye out for another ATI TV Tuner for my rig (I already have an extra Remote Wonder).

BTW: HDTVMan, I got the TV Tuner card because my Wife wanted me to install a TV in my Daughters room. I didn't want to have to mount the bracket on the wall and have to worry about glare (there are windows on 2 walls in her room). Also, since she is a 12yr old girl, I figure that in a few years she will want to be re-arranging her room every week or so and I certainly wasn't going to re-mount a TV all over the place! Besides, with a 17' LCD and a set of 5.1 speakers in her room already, the TV Tuner card is a perfect match.

That makes perfect sense as a Tv tuner and a great idea.

Most are buying them to copy home movies from vhs to dvd and record tv shows where to me its just easier with a set top DVD recorder.

Having owned about 15 video capture cards I have been through it all it feels.
