video cutting out on ps3 intermittently

i have had my ps3 for a few weeks now and lately i have noticed that the tv's video signal seems to cut out while the audio is still there. the ps3 doesn't seem to be locking out. this problem happens randomly and doesn't happen everytime i play it. i've heard it has someting to do with hdcp but i don't know. i am pretty sure the cable isn't the problem because i have switched it. the tv is a kds-r50xbr1 projection tv from sony. does anyone know what's going on?

holy crap! this happened to me yesterday! it was the first time it happened for me though. I was playing SF4. I just turned the TV off and back on and it worked again.

but mine comes back in a few seconds though so it's pretty weird. i hope it's not a problem with the ps3

I had that problem when I first bought my PS3... problem disappeared when I replaced the HDMI cable with a shorter one (from 6ft to 3ft... even though it shouldn't matter).

Mine hasn't happened since 8/2 but I haven't really been using it a whole lot lately.
