Video cuts out when gaming, running HDMI from PC to HDTV

Using a an HDMI cable to connect PC to HDTV. Everything works fine for most tasks, browsing, Netflix, etc. However, many games, when loading up, cause me to lose video. (Right when the game loads, I get sound but nothing else and have to task manager away...) I have tried many things. I think it is my video card. Using an ATI Radeon HD 3650.
Any suggestions? Help would be nice.

Games that work include Morrowind.
Games that don't work include Medieval: Total War and Galactic Civ II.

Either a driver problem, a display EDID problem, or an HDMI cable problem.

Easiest thing to do would be to buy a different / better brand of HDMI cable.

I've had issues using HDMI and AMD cards that were fixed by recent drivers.

But it may simply be a handshake issue. When I start gaming sometimes my HDTV loses signal. I just turn it off and back on and it gets signal again. Or sometimes I exit from games and it happens. Same with Windows Media Center.

In the end, it simply was my receiver or HDTV not shaking hands 🙁 Bad Receiver! So try that.
