Video-Crazy hissing sound from 09 Acura MDX, scary, any thoughts?

Happened tonight to my MDX, idling for a few minutes when it started. Turned off the car then drove it home. Left it running in the driveway for a few minutes when it happened again? It's dark so it's hard to see but there was a bit of smoke coming out from the head lights and grill after doing this. Also had a weird slight burning smell. Thoughts?

Yes, I did. In fact the video was of the car with the hood open, unfortunately it was too dark to see anything. The MDX engine area is very small, but from what I could tell it seemed to be coming from more of the front / bottom section of the engine area, meaning it could be more the radiator (area). Wondering if an independent can take care of this or if I need to go to the dealer...

hmm. that is really loud. and intermittent. maybe the tips of one of the cooling fans is hitting the radiator fins or the fan assembly is loose.

Sounds like something releasing excess pressure.

Air Conditioning system?

Probably a stuck relay in the A/C compressor?

Hi again,
On these trucks the compressor relay gets stuck and causes the A/C compressor to run when it shouldn't and the blow off valve on the compressor blows. I'd take a look for oil leakage at the compressor if you can see it.

Supposedly you can pull that relay out and stop it from happening.

The AC compressor on the Honda J-series motors is one of the few things that will eventually wear out. I got 125,000 miles on my first. Have 130,000 on my current one so I'm just waiting for it to go.
